Your Antidote To The Sunday Scaries. (022)
Switch your relationship with your life from passenger to pilot.
I Discovered The Antidote To The Sunday Scaries.
Have you ever felt the Sunday scaries? Yup! Me Too, been there. Not as often recently but ohhhh man has it been there before. First, let’s get the real deal definition to level the playing field here.
I asked ChatGPT.
How would you describe the Sunday scaries to a 5-year-old?
ChatGPT answered.
Imagine the Sunday scaries like a tiny feeling in your tummy when you know the weekend fun is ending, and it's almost time for the regular week to start again. It's okay to feel a bit funny, but we can talk about it, and you'll see that weekdays can be fun too!
Well, shit ain’t that the truth… The only difference is it’s a 20 to 30-something-year-old tummy overflowing with anxiety. Thoughts start to run and you start dreading the fact that you have to wake up early Monday morning.
Wait there is an antidote to this feeling? You don’t have to go the rest of your 2024 with that Sunday night dread.
Before we get to the good stuff and antidote for these anxious feelings it is important to ask why. Not once or twice probably need to ask why a bunch… 5 in a row would be a good place to start. Why Why Why Why andddd Why…
Where does this extra anxious energy come from?
What are you avoiding?
Where are you procrastinating?
What would these projects look like if they were easy?
Does what you are doing right now align with your purpose? (Do you have a purpose?)
Check-in with the 5 whys, then check in with the 5 questions above, and then the last check-in before the antidote is what does your working out/sleep/drinking or partying schedule look like?

This past Sunday I experienced the antidote to the Sunday scaries. Last Sunday the squad made plans. Big plans and the day turned into a movie.
Met up at 10 am.
Ran 6 miles around the Portland Waterfront.
Closed out the run at Cosube for a breakfast burrito, and drip coffee, then topped it off with a brewski.
Post kicking it at Cosube I hydrated (a lot) and hit up the sauna.
Trader Joe’s so I could meal prep for the week.
Journaled thoughts and direction for the next day and week.
The antidote is a mixture of three things. It is like alchemy, creating the ideal experiences to have a better week than the last.
Clarity on your purpose. (Something bigger than just your day job)
Hanging out, joking around, working out, and having a meal with your friends. (Health & Connection Deposit) ***Brought to you by Cosube who has the best breakfast burritos in Portland, Oregon.
Awareness about the root cause of feeling uneasy. (Don’t need to solve all the problems just aware of the root cause and then take action.)
That antidote cleans a lot of things up as another incredible weekend comes to a close and you start up another week. The antidote can be a game-changer for getting off of auto-pilot.
