Awareness & Going The Wrong Direction. (010)

Are you aware of what you are doing, how often, and the cost of those choices?

Awareness & Going The Wrong Direction.

It all comes down to being self-aware. Level up your life by leveling up your awareness.

What is your purpose? That one thing you commit to that is bigger than just you? Who do you want to be? Who do you want to become?

Then you work backwards from who you want to be to where you are now. Take action and invest in yourself with Daily Deposits towards that future version.

The real question is, do your current choices align with what you want, what you are committed to, and the attributes you want to embody? It all comes back to awareness.

Are you aware of what you are doing, how often, and the cost of those choices?

Here is a real-world Bryant Ferate example. I was thinking about my life in blocks of time and seasons. Where do I want to invest right now? Where do I sacrifice and where am I set up to grow? I can imagine you have felt these feelings too.

A few weeks back in Portland there was an ice storm but there was also a perfect storm for getting in high-quality time with the homies.

The sauna squad, the group of guys I kick it with a lot all happen to get back from our own travels the same week as the ice storm. This led to us kicking it almost every day.

Sauna sessions, Matador Happy Hour, hitting Forest Park for a run, watched UFC fights, Andrew Schulz stand-up comedy, another matador happy hour, shooting pool at McMenamins on 23rd street another night, Sunday Runday with the squad stacking miles for Eugene. All incredible quality time, jokes, talking smack, and connecting.

I was reflecting that the 10-day period was a BLAST. MASSIVE IMPACT on Daily Deposits of connection and friendship.

But using that awareness I recognized a beer here and a beer there, then another two more beers another night adds up. No judgment, no labels of good or bad, more so awareness to drive my next decision. One beer doesn’t ruin it all. Especially with the return of connection with amazing friends.

The awareness moment comes when you have 1 drink with the buddies 4 or 5 days in a row. That is when you can stop and think for a second. Is this who I want to be? Yes, I want to deeply connect with my friends. No, I don’t want to drink all the time.

Be aware and be intentional about your daily deposits. The good ones are important but so is recognizing and stopping the deposits going in the wrong direction. Wishing you all love and consistency. Keep stacking those daily deposits and making every day the best day of the year until tomorrow…
